The JodyJazz ESP Baritone Sax Mouthpiece is available in facings 5
- 9. The mouthpiece is shipped with a Deluxe
Rovner Dark Ligature and cap, a special removable baffle with
a 24kt Gold plated secondary reed, and a deluxe mouthpiece pouch.
The ESP-X is the brightest mpc that I have. It is still not as bright
as some of the very high baffle mouthpieces, but I believe it has
plenty of brightness and the fullness and ease of playing that everyone
loves about the ESP.
The JodyJazz ESP-X is a metal tenor sax mouthpiece with flawless
workmanship. The workmanship is evident in the beautiful thin side
and tip rails and hand cut baffles. This metal sax mouthpiece is
machined from a solid bar of the finest virgin brass, meaning no
seams! The ESP is beautifully plated with the finest 24kt, Hard
Gold plating available. A very interesting feature is that the new
JodyJazz has a removable baffle with a 24kt Gold plated secondary
reed which gives the mouthpiece more brilliance and projection.
The chamber is big and fat, and the sound is unusually full.
Compared
to many of the high baffle metal sax mouthpieces, the JodyJazz ESP-X
will deliver a more round full sound with more bottom end without
sacrificing high end or ease of playing.
The ESP-X is available in the following tip openings:
JodyJazz ESP-X Tenor Gold 5 = .080
JodyJazz ESP-X Tenor Gold 6 = .090
JodyJazz ESP-X Tenor Gold 7 = .100
JodyJazz ESP-X Tenor Gold 8 = .110
JodyJazz ESP-X Tenor Gold 9 = .120
More about the ESP-X:
This mouthpiece came about when my friend Joe Mennonna, who is a great player, asked me to make him the brightest mouthpiece that I could out of the ESP Tenor Piece. I told him that we'd give it a try and see what we came up with. From the first moment that he played it, he flipped and several guys that tried his mpc also flipped and ordered one on the spot. Joe was gracious enough to let me take his mouthpiece back to the factory when we made this run of ESP-X's so I would have his as the model to go by.
There is only one difference from the ESP and that is that the X has a higher baffle with a sharper break. If you feel with your thumb you can really feel it. The chamber is still the huge chamber and the same thin rails.
I hate when manufacturers keep coming out with new stuff so that you think you need to go out and buy something new. The only reason that I'm coming out with this is that it seems to make a lot of players very happy.
